　　森林資源由于所具有的經(jīng)營(yíng)的永續性、再生的長(cháng)期性、分布的遼闊性、功能的多樣性、管理的艱巨性等特點(diǎn)，其評估有別于其它一般的評估，所需資料也不同。對于不同目的、不同種類(lèi)、不同范圍的森林資源，其評估所需資料也不同，這些資料的一部分要求森林資源的占用單位提供，但相當一部分則要求林業(yè)資產(chǎn)價(jià)格評估單位和評估人員調查收集。
